Ewwww!!!

Well, I guess I had a mom first (and hopefully last) today. As my dear sweet son and I were playing on the floor, I had the genius idea of playing "airplane". We have done this several times before with no problems. I guess the whole "30 minutes before swimming" applies to flying as well.

We had an emergency landing because my mouth (yes, my mouth) was full of spit up. Not just a little spit up either, a whole mouthful! Eww!!!

Where has the time gone?!

A few new things during the fifth month of Hunter's life:

• Sleeping in his nursery.
• Hunter is very active. Since he still occasionally wakes up during the night, it has been easy to keep him in the pack n' play in Momma and Daddy's room. When Mr. H started trying to pull himself up to sitting in the bassinet part of the pack n play, we realized that it was time to move to the crib. We tried this once at 6weeks and sweet baby cried and cried. We gave up after 2 weeks of trying to get him to sleep in his bed. I didn't really care about trying until summer came. Summer's here and he is now sleeping like a big boy in his own bed. The first few nights, we listened to the monitor as Hunter "swam" his way around his crib. He was panting like a dog. We found him in the corner of the crib all curled up. We pulled him back to the middle and he slept really well. By the way, the Angel Monitor is a great invention! It is a sound/motion monitor. If Hunter doesn't move for 20 seconds, an alarm goes off. Very cool and reassuring. (Our child does not normally sleep naked. He fell asleep as soon as we put him in his bed. He woke up a little bit later and we put on p.j.'s and his sleep sack.)
  

• Sitting up.
  
• We still need a little assistance, but Hunter can sit up on his own for a pretty good period of time. Before we know it, he's going to be doing it all on his own.

• Rolling all over the place.
• Hunter can really get around now. No blanket is big enough to hold him. He's like a little log rolling all over the place. He can entertain himself for a good period of time just playing on the floor and discovering new things by rolling around. He's fast too! He can be across the room in the blink of an eye. Momma's not sure about this moving thing. I know it's only going to get crazier from here!
• Scooting.
• Hunter is really trying to scoot now. The motion is so small it's hard to tell he's really moving, but he can reach toys put in front of him pretty easily. He's going to be crawling soon. It's fun watching him reach new toys and get around.
  

Hunter's really growing faster than his momma would like! I hate that time is passing so quickly, but I love each new stage. I used to get sad thinking about how much he was growing and missing the previous stage, but it just gets better and better! I am constantly amazed at the perfection of God's creation. Everything happens in the order it needs to happen and development happens at just the right time. It's amazing to watch! I just don't understand how anyone could look at a sweet baby and deny the existence of God! I can't believe my baby boy is almost 6 months old!

Welcome to Miami!

We just got back from Miami visiting Jimmy's family. What a blessing that we were able to get down there. Jimmy's Nanny and Papa just fell in love with Mr. H (as everyone does!). It was a joy to watch them interact and play.

We left Monday afternoon and drove to Arlington. We spent the night and got up too early Tuesday morning and went to the airport. Mr. H didn't sleep much Monday night so thankfully, he was nice and tired for the flight. We were very nervous about flying with Hunter. I really didn't want to be the people no one wants to be around with the crying baby. We prayed that God would allow this trip to be easy for Hunter and if not, that God would put someone understanding next to us. God truly answers prayers. Hunter slept for about 2 hours (almost the whole flight) and played the rest of the way. Prayer #1 answered. As for prayer #2, the man sitting next to us has 6 kids, the youngest is 3 weeks! Not only that, but he was reading a Christian book. Another answered prayer! God is good!


We went straight to Nanny and Papa's house from the airport. The weather was beautiful! Hunter had a great time meeting new family and letting them fall in love with his precious smile! Hunter found a new toy in Nanny's big remote control. Of course, everything goes straight into his mouth right now. Who needs toys anyway?! Thank you Aunt JoAnn and Uncle Robert for letting us stay at your house and feeding us such yummy food (especially the mushrooms! Ha!!) and for nice warm showers! ;)


The trip home was fairly uneventful, if you count a broken down plane, (never good when flying stand-be) a stop at security (never try to fly with an expired drivers license!) and a sleepy baby uneventful! Really, he was so easy to travel with! He charmed the flight attendant and several other passengers on the plane with his big smile. We were exhausted and took a nap when we got back to Arlington which gave Papa (Jimmy's dad) some quality time with Mr. H. We went to a Rangers game Thursday night! Momma loves Ranger games! I highly recommend the all-you-can-eat seats! How fun. It was really windy like West Texas! We felt right at home! Thankfully, the Rangers looked good and won! We tried to get Hunter on TV, but they were already booked full. Jim Knox was close by and Papa told him that it was his grandson's first baseball game. Shucks! That would have been so much fun! Hunter looked adorable in his new Rangers outfit.

We had a blast seeing family and spending time with people we love. We are glad to be home, but it was good to see and spend time with family!! Thank you God for giving us such loving family!
(Hunter's Granna and Poppa and Aunt Sassy were glad to see Mr. H. They said he grew too much while we were gone. Oscar Bob and Dixie were happy for us to come home too!)

School's Out For Summer!

Well , it is official! I have until mid-August to do nothing but hang out with my kid. I'm so excited!! I was blessed to have an amazing group of sixth graders this year, so while I am sad to see them go, I am thrilled to have summer off. Here's a few of the things we plan on doing:

1. Just hang out mom and son. 2. Sleep!!!! (By the way, sleeping with Mr. H on my chest is one of my favorite things about being a momma!)3. Do fun things like swimming and going to the park. UPDATE:
Just to catch everyone up on Hunter's developmental stuff, here's what he is now doing. A few weeks ago, while Momma was at work Hunter rolled from his back to his tummy. He has gotten very good at that. His Granna videoed it so Momma could see when she got home. Of course, Momma and Hunter had a big talk about how he is supposed to wait until Momma is home to do his firsts. I think we got it all worked out now!! :) Hunter is almost ready to sit up on his own. He is so close, but still pretty wobbly! It won't be long! Hunter got to come up to school last week and meet the sixth graders. They thought he was pretty awesome! They really liked his tiny toes! This morning we woke up to find Mr. H sleeping on his tummy. He has now learned how to roll over during the night. It was a little shock for Momma and Daddy! Have I mentioned that we are in love with this kid?! Hopefully, I can post more now that I have daytime to do things too! Look for more posts to come! (By the way, typing with a sweet wiggly man in your lap who has learned to love the keyboard is not as easy as it might seem!)

My First Mother's Day

What a blessing yesterday was. I have a whole new perspective on Mother's Day now that I am a momma. Several times yesterday I felt blessed to the point of tears coming to my eyes. My sweet baby boy's 5 month birthday just happened to fall on the same day as Mother's Day. Oh, I can't put into words how blessed I am. I am so thankful for the miracle of life and love. I have a precious wonderful husband and a baby that is amazing beyond words. What more could a Momma ask for?! Thank you Lord Jesus!



Again, I see God's hand at work in my life. I pray continually that I won't miss any of Hunter's first while I am working. This weekend, I was home for two precious moments. Friday night while I was sitting at my computer, I hear this sweet little raspberry noise and look down at the vibrating chair and Mr. H, with very sleepy eyes, is blowing wet, slobbery raspberries and having a great time doing it! What a sweet and silly thing! His cheeks get full and his little lips pucker up and he goes to town just blowing away!



Hunter has a new favorite game. His daddy has taught him to play peek-a-boo. Hunt just laughs and laughs his big old belly laugh and I just sit and giggle right along. At first, Jimmy would cover Hunter's face with his blanket and ask "Where's Hunter?" followed by pulling the blanket down and saying "Peek-a-boo!" and Hunter just laughs! Now, Mr. H covers his own face and pulls the blanket down and waits and watches for us to respond. What a fun little game! You can't beat a Mr. H smile!



What a wonderfully blessed weekend. Thank you Father God for your infinite blessings. Again I say, I am blessed beyond measure!

Happy Hunter

My new favorite sound is my Hunter laughing, which happens often. He has the best laugh in the whole world! He is so happy! No one can make the little man laugh like his daddy! Enjoy! I dare you not to smile!!!!

4 Months

Hunter went to the doctor for his four month check up last week. According to his doctor, he is perfect. Mr. H is quite the charmer. He flirted with the nurses . He smiled and laughed and won everyone over. One nurse commented several times how handsome he is. All I could do is agree! He is a handsome devil! He now weighs in at 13 lbs. 3 oz. and is 25 inches tall. Poor baby did great during his shots. He screamed for a second but as soon as Momma came to the rescue, the world was better. We missed Daddy at this appointment, but he was having fun in Nashville. Next time, Momma and Mr. H get to go too hopefully!

Hunter started cereal last weekend. He is doing pretty good with it. Of course, there is as much on his face as there is in his mouth! He likes to try to help by grabbing the spoon from Momma. This is still a work in progress. We are figuring it out together. He is growing up so fast! I can't believe he is already 4 months old. About 2 weeks ago, Hunter rolled over for the first time. What a huge blessing that this happened while I was home. I don't want to miss his firsts. I just sat and cried, then ran and got the camera. Of course, he wouldn't do it again for the camera. It took several attempts to get him to roll over for the camera. Of course, his Momma's his biggest cheerleader! Here's a video of Hunter doing his newest trick for all of the people who love him. Mr. H's laugh is amazing. Everyday he keeps us smiling. His laugh is just contagious! I love it more than words can say. This evening, Hunter and Daddy were inside spending some quality time together and I was in the office. All of a sudden, I heard a sound that would melt any momma's heart. Hunter was laughing as loud as he could at his silly daddy. I couldn't help but smile and laugh with him, even from the other room. We'll video this soon so everyone can enjoy the greatness of Hunt's wonderful little laugh. He is a joy!!!!!
